So if the ramp is 1:20, that would be okay? What if the ramp is 1:21 or greater? Is a ramp even required at all in the case?
Also, if an exhibit has a flow of traffic in and out and the exhibit is only 28ft long from front to back, is it okay to have the ADA compliant ramp to attach to the side exit door?
Technically if it’s under 1:20 or less than 5% – it’s not a “ramp” and you can extend that all day. At 1:20 or above, it becomes a ramp, and needs to meet the requirements of a ramp w/ handrails, level landings etc.
I would need to see a diagram of your exhibit / ramp / exit door configuration in or to comment on it.
We are working on a school project, and we have chosen you to ask a few questions! On a more personal level, what are the ramps that you use most often and under what conditions? What other constraints do you need to keep in mind when building an access ramp that is ADA compliant? Thanks!

The best source for information about accessible ramps would be our digital book ADA4CA that’s available on Itunes, Amazon & Barnes & Noble.
