Ramps

Handrails not required on ramps less than 6” in rise or 72” in length.  Handrails to be placed on each side or ramp, 34” – 38” above ramp surface and extend 1’-0” min. beyond the top and bottom of the ramp and be parallel to floor or ground surface.  Grip portion to be 1 1/4” to 1 ½” nominal dimen.

    I do work for the VA and I have a vet that needs a ramp from his living room to the backyard. The rise is approx 16″ from bottom of concrete deck to the top of the sliding glass door threshold.
